Currently, HRTA's gold sales are dominated by wholesale gold sales. Its contribution portion reaches more than 90% in HRTA gold sales. Meanwhile, the share of gold sales in the retail segment contributed less than 10% in HRTA's total gold sales.
Thendra is optimistic that the prospect of gold retail sales will improve in 2022. According to him, uncertainty factors such as geopolitical tensions, the threat of stagflation and the COVID-19 pandemic have pushed a positive outlook for investment in gold as a safe haven. On the other hand, the price of gold denominated in rupiah, thendra continued, benefited from an increase in international gold prices (in US$) and a weakening of the rupiah exchange rate. "In addition, macro-wise, Indonesia benefits from the current trend of increasing commodity prices so that consumers in commodity-producing areas have high purchasing power, one of which is investing in gold, thereby increasing sales volume," added Thendra. According to its optimism, HRTA has prepared a number of business strategies this year. First, HRTA plans to expand its own network of stores. The plan is that HRTA will increase the number of stores to 81 stores in 2022. This store chain itself is intended as a one-stop shopping service for people who want to buy Kencana products and GoldKITA gold bars which is a collaboration between Hartadinata and PT. Gold Antam Indonesia (EAI). Until the beginning of May 2022, HRTA has successfully opened its own retail store network to 77 stores from a target of 81 stores in 2022.
In addition to the expansion of the physical store network, HRTA plans to intensify the online distribution network through e-commerce through Tokopedia, Shopee, JD.ID, Tiktok Shop and its own e-commerce development. Another strategy, HRTA also develops innovative products in the form of gold bars of 0.1 grams - 100 grams such as EmasKita products, and also gold jewelry products such as Kencana products. In addition, HRTA also has a strategy to develop a pawn business that provides higher profit margins.
